As for akaQA, it is a general question and answer forum but a bit more lax than other question and answer forums because the admin here do allow for socializing. Very few question and answer forums allow chatter between the members. Also it's one of the few forums that allow opinions and more freedom of speech than many other forums. This is what sets us apart from the rest and makes this forum fun. We answer questions and have fun doing it. This is why people get upset when newbies come along and try to change things.

I'm guessing because some do not know how to upload a picture, others use this site as it's meant to be... a general question and answer site. They come here to answer questions and not socialize. Others may feel that it's simply none of anyone's business. Again, all just guessing and assuming.
I'm quite certain you're not really a cartoon character and your basic information gives no real information about you.
I give little info about myself because it is the internet and the internet is never to be trusted.

What are you talking about Russell-o-nator? I am a little blue fish ... Seriously! You missed me as a shrimp and an octopus ... you have come to the part-ay late!

I must depart. The memories are far too painful.
I don't have too much to hide. Did a credit check report today, and there were few errors, nothing alarming.
Posting a photo isn't a big deal to me.
I get a weird feeling about you, Russrocks. Can't quite put my finger on it.....

PS I could care less whether people post their photos. I'm just amazed at how few do.
If you could care less about people posting their photos, work on caring less. Caring enough to post a question about it is caring quite a bit.
Personally, I COULDN'T care less about what people use for their avatars.
Also, I don't like people who try to force their opinions on us, or presume their opinion is the only one that matters. Honestly, and I know I shouldn't admit this, the question was simply to get my karma points up, so don't read to much into it.
Finally, "I couldn't care less" is improper English because it is a double-negative. "I could care less" is correct. (That's what annoys people about me I think, being corrected, and actually expecting people on this site to give factual answers, rather than a guess.)
Actually, Russrocks, you may be giving off an intensity of which you are not aware.
I find it difficult to appreciate your attempts to educate me about double negatives, spelling, grammar, punctuation, or anything else pertaining to the English language when your responses, questions, and comments are often laden with errors of their own.
Members' intentions and the points of their words are usually more important to me than a grammar lesson.
Also, if I am "no one", my comments to you should fall on deaf ears, don't you think? It astounds me that you consider yourself a perfectionist and humble in the same text. Seeking your own version of perfection is one thing; forcing it on others seems far from humble. Of course, I could be wrong.
I had no quarrel with you in my initial statement about getting a weird feeling. Something wasn't connecting for me about you. Choosing to be offended rather than asking for clarification has validated some of my impressions.
I hope you have a wonderful day, too, dear, humble "Russ rocks".
Fully completely as the Tragically Hip would say.
To understand how completely off the mark you are here, though, Russ, you should review some of the commentary between Colleen and me. For us to be in agreement about something is huge.
Thanks for your time today. I have learned a lot about you and had another opportunity to present myself intelligently and rationally. They are NOT always the same.
Actually, when I am moderating, no you do not and this is one time to many that you have told me whether I like it or not. We'll see you in 3 days. It's time you understood what "moderator" means.
Means that you have a level of caring. You care but you could care less than you care now. http://incompetech.com/gallimaufry/care_less.html
So, you went against your self. You said you didn't care when you actually do according to your statement above.
Socratic Communication
Socrates is an ancient Greek philosopher who lived many years ago and was the founder for western philosophy. He was also known to be a great teacher because he reversed the role between teachers and students. Instead of giving his students any answers he would reply to their questions with another question and let them search for answers within themselves. To solve a problem, you would ask a question and when finding the answer, you would also have an answer to your problem. No subject was left unturned and Socrates said to question everything because 'the unexamined life is not worth living.'
Trust me! You don't need a picture of me on this site.I ain't that pretty! LOL

I want to put my pic on here , but I don't know how . Where's your pic, Russ ? As for other's profile, I guess they don't want anyone to know their business. Or, maybe they don't want their spouse to know what they're doing. Maybe their spouse, or sig other ..... is super jealous

Unfortunately because we don't resemble Hollywood actors like you do. Remember Wayne Knight of Jurassic Park? You're the spitting image of each other.

You've mentioned this before. I agree with you.
Now let's see, you started with an avatar of a big guy with glasses then you had Charlie Brown then it was Fred Flintstone, from Fred you had Yogi bear, now it's Goofy. It seems you are never content.I have better things to do than sitting at the computer fiddling with what avatar i am going to use.

I find it irrevelent as to how people look on this site, I like my weird triangle avatar, have not got the time, patience or knowledge to post photo's, those that know me here are from my responce or comments to questions, or infomation I have chosen to share, why do you think it should change? works well for me the way it is

Russ I read all the answers and the comments and I have read alot of all your postings well.................you say that you are quite a humble guy.....to me in most of your answers and comments you want or should I say crave the attention by arguing. To me you sound a lonely person crying out. I hope I am wrong you need to calm down and chill out this is not good for anyone and the only attention you will get is animosity.

Thank you for your insightful comments. I have been away the past few days and it gave me time to reflect on my behavior here.
I agree I have been unnecessarily argumentative, and I promise to try to refrain from doing so from now on. All I ask is that certain people here respect me enough to try not to antagonize me as well. It started out as just having some fun because, I must admit, I think I am pretty good in an argument. But then it got hostile (on both sides) and people got hurt and defensive, including myself.
From now on, all I want to do is answer some questions as truthfully as I can, avoid the controversial ones (which will be hard to do), and ask a few thoughtful ones every now and then. I'll try to remember the purpose of this site: To answer general questions thoughtfully and factually, and nothing else. I have learned in my professional life that "less is more" and I should edit my thoughts here as I do with my business correspondence.
I must admit that some of the responses I've received have puzzled me, like this one for example. Why has such a simple, straight-forward question generated such a response, when other more interesting ones I've asked haven't generated much at all? I think part of the reason is that some people have come to look for something sinister in my questions when there isn't anything sinister there. I am a curious person by nature. Sometimes a question or comment is simply that and nothing more.
I really am a quiet, easygoing, humble person in real life, and I'm ashamed of the way I've behaved here.
A final point I'd like to make is that I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist and I would never presume to analyse others, yet I am surprised that so many are quick to analyze me when all they see is a sliver of who I am here.
At any rate, please be assured: To those I've antagonized or offended, I sincerely apologize. I hope we can start anew. :)
Because the members are tired of your constant need to try and change this forum. I've told you this a few times already. At some point, you might get it.
I hope you can stick to what you say here. Just know, that as a moderator, I say things to let you know when you're out of line. I see what the others say even when you do not. I have to be here for all members and when I hear or see them complaining, then I have to step in. It's my job.
I see nothing wrong with using an Avatar, why else would they provide them? Not everyone thinks they are handsome or pretty, some persons still want some bit of control within a free environment. It is all about choice, democracy and a little thing called freedom of expression.

Well Russrocks...I see that you've done it again! Have you decided yet, if there is anyone on this site, that you actually enjoy? I notice that you say things such as "have a great day" or "I love you", after arguing with a member. Condescending isn't it? I get the same feeling about you that Bob/PKB has expressed....there is just something that I can't quite put my finger on. Put your own picture up, along with a blog about yourself, and maybe that will help us identify "that feeling". Btw, never have I seen a so-called "perfectionist" make so many spelling errors in so many responses. Now go ahead and tell ME to have a great day too!
