Sounds to me that it's talking about Souls trapped in purgatory because of that jealous, bitter God of the OT who loved to be vengeful, angry and mean. Of course I could be wrong as two verses on their own could be taken out of context.

I guess that is why there are so many intepretations. My intepretation of God is... He is love. He is holy and He is just. God was not vengeful, angry or mean. A just and holy God who loves us will make plan B as He did in Gen 3. The seed of the woman has crushed the head of Satan. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am so thankful you are open to being wrong. There are so many verses that share God's attributes. There is a place for righteous anger and it is not sinful. Jealousy, bitterness, vengefulness and just plain being mean is sinful. God loves you and obviously he loved those souls trapped in purgatory or he wouldn't have offered them a second chance to embrace Noah's message. Thank you for making me think!!!!!
The OT and even the paintings of him from the OT depict an angry, violent God. This same God told Abraham to kill his kid. Ridiculous. This same God slaughtered thousands of people. No love there. Thunder bolt throwing, turning people into salt, destroying cities, this same God sends Souls to hell, again, where's the love?
Sorry, I do not believe in the God of the OT or even the NT.
I believe in the Creator that made me and IT is love and only love. No damnation, vengeance or threats from IT.

I did my first bible study "Examine the Evidence" as an adult. I love puzzles and answers and I have always had so many questions. As I studied the OT and the NT I was facinated that a book with so many authors didn't have contraditions. Everything I was learning was connecting like a puzzle. The pieces were fitting together and showing me the bigger picture. Over such a long time span science has never disproved anything written in scripture. The OT said the earth was round before science proved it. The OT tells about five bathing pools and years later the archeologists unearthed them. God chose Abraham possibly because God knows the past, the present and the future. He knew Abraham would kill his kid for Him because Abraham had faith that if he killed him God could bring him back to life. He created us, gave us life. Abraham told Isaac that God would provide a sacrifice when his kid asked where the lamb was. Abraham trusted God with his most precious child. That story tells us how much God loves us. I'm a mom and a grandmother of triplets. I can't imagine being asked to trust God enough to give my child up. His love letters (OT and NT)showed me that God actually did what He had asked Abraham to do. He told Satan to consider Job because He knew that Job would not deny Him. God knows our hearts.
Gen 1:1 tells us who He is- the holy creator with all authority over His creation.
Acts 17:25 We owe our very existence to Him.
Ps. 139:1-12 We are always in His hands and under His watchful eye.
Matt 4:10 We were created by Him to worship Him and serve Him.
Romans 11:36 We are to live for His glory.
That's the truth about God. The truth about sin is it is an offense against God and seperates us from Him. Isaiah 59:1-2. Our sin alienates us from God and we need to be reconciled to Him. We earn death by our sin not God's anger. Only perfect Jesus who was fully God and fully man could provide reconcilation. In the words of one of my favorite songs.......He paid a debt He did not owe. I owed a debt I could not pay. I needed someone to wash my sins away. And now I sing Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace. Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay. The last truth is about man's response. God's sovereignty in salvation does not negate our responsibility. The only reasonable response to what God has done for you through Christ is two fold: faith in Christ and turning from rebellion to submission. We can embrace these scriptures or reject them. They can be the bread of life or just words on a page. Man has freedom of choice. In light of these truths I have refused to set any limit to the claims Christ may make on my life. It has been a wonderful ride. My son gave the mother of our triplets a tee shirt that said "When you ask God for a miracle, sometimes He gives you three." He is the same God of the OT, the NT and the same living God of today. God loves His children. He desires for all of us to be adopted into His family. Not my words but scriptures. He does not want one of his creation to perish.
Blessings to you,
Marilyn

Abraham was nutty to listen. God, the creator does not have a voice to speak with so whoever Abraham was listening to, it was not the Creator. Jesus was not perfect as even he took Baptism. I mostly scanned what you wrote because verses are not proof to me about anything. Men wrote the OT and NT. Men are not perfect and men lie.
God IS LOVE!!! We are born/ or hatched- Doolittle's hatch By his love..LOVE is the most important thing! The Creator IS LOVE!.......LOVE is the most important thing!
By the way, that's an awful lot of preaching you did there. I should tell you that preaching is not allowed here so if the reason you joined akaQA was build a pulpit and preach, well you've wasted your time. You won't be allowed to do it.
