    Don't buy solar panels there is something new, it's a paint with cells and it's painted on the roof, much cheaper. Just remember that solar panels can be smashed by hailstones. Most insurance companies won't insure them. So, if you have a storm, you will have to pay the bill.

    Eggy, he is talking about hot water systems, you are talking about photovoltaics to generate electricity. About 20 years ago I installed a Thermomax system in my house which was very effective and supplied all my hot water for about 6 months of the year. I am now in the process of building a new house and am using a thermodynamic system which is a heat pump and concentrates the heat from the atmosphere so there is no need for anything on the roof.
