When you named your child(ren), did the meaning of the name sway your choice? Please share as much information as you are comfortable sharing.
For example: One of my sons is named "ALAN", which means "handsome and cheerful". The meaning of his name was important to me. Alan IS relatively cheerful, and handsome without a doubt.

I chose the names of my children just because I liked them, my son Daniel (after Daniel Boon ) my childhood hero, and my daughter Alecia, after one of the child actors off little house on the prairie, I did consider another name for my son, but was turned off by the meaning, I had a friend that called her daughter Carmen, after Carmen Miranda, she had seen the movie the day before her daughter was born.

My daughter was named Robin because her mother always liked that name. Shortly before her birth her mother questioned if she would be teased about being a "bird". In her teen years she had a huge banner in her room that read BLUEBIRD. Son's name was my choice just because i liked "Michael". I never paid much attention to the meaning of names. BTW: I never liked my name when I was a teenager.

My first daughter Donna was named after Donna Mills, my youngest after Erin Grey of Buck Rogers, little did i think when they were older they would say 'WHO?', their middle names are Jade and Amber respectively, i did not realise at the time these are Australia's colours. (Green & Gold). When i look back, it is so corny.

My first daughter has my nick name as a child and an Irish name. Her name means Purity.
My second daughter has an Irish name ... her middle name is Elizabeth after my favorite Aunt's middle name. Her name means Purity
My son has an Irish name which means "Tall slender lad" (Which he will be if he takes after his Dad) and his middle name is the middle name of his Father's , his Grandfather's first name, his Great Gradfather's middle name and so on. His name also adds up to a 9 9 9 in numerology, just as mine.
I put a lot of thought into names especially their first names. I didn't want first names that were too odd and also not names that were popular.
My Great Aunt does not like the Irish names for WW2 reasons and so she applies a French accent to my Children's names. She is living in denial!
Did it really matter?... the jury is still out.

My middle son has my maiden name for his surname. My mother-in-law had a hard time with that until I pointed out that we were thinking of giving our third son HER maiden name for a surname. I would have, but was vetoed.
We picked the name and then I did the numerology ... the odd thing is that had he been a girl that name had the same numerology as well. Meant to be!
My first son-liked it and also a cousin had that name.
My second son-second name of one of his grandfathers.
My third son-liked it (and also a famous saint, lol).
My fourth son-decided to give a nod to my heritage.

I named my son: Jack Joseph Scott Harlan. Jack is my dad, Scott is for my mother's name, and I've always liked anybody named Joe. We called him Joe. P.S. Don't ever give your child an extra name....
