If you have been prescribed B 12 injections...You should receive the syringe and needles with the vials of medication!...Also you should have been taught how to administer these injections...and that`s NO criticism on you!!....I think you should see your practice nurse and also read the instruction leaflet carefully..I am amazed that you haven`t been given the instruction required..and are left to administer this medication which you are clearly not sure how to do!...Please ask for proper instuction...it`s not difficult but you need to feel confident and competent re this!...(Never use the same needle twice..and dispose of needles with care...you should have been given a "Sharps"Bin).

You need to use a green intramuscular needle, but you need to be taught how to administer safely by a health care professional.

I am Vit. B 12 deficient and I have to give myself a Vitamin B 12 shot once a month. My Dr. prescribes the syringes(Insulin syringes) and the Vit.B12 in liquid form. You cant buy syringes over the counter. If your Dr. prescribed Vit. B12, then he also needs to supply you with syringes..I used to go to hospital onnce a month to get injections. A  RN I know showed me how to do it myself. I usually inject in the thigh muscle. Make sure you clean the area w. Alcohol first.
