You have got to be kidding, right?
I worked in all three sides of the auto industry in my time, manufacturing, retail and repair. The cars and trucks we have today are the best cars we ever built, period.
I own a bunch of old cars a 41, 54, 71, 72 and an 83 all in great condition but they can not compare with what we build today. Todays new cars and trucks are much safer, more fuel efficient, cleaner and longer lasting.
We were forced to make cars safer. Tthat added weight, while at the SAME time forced us to make them more efficient, where we had to reduce weight.
If the government had gotten out of our way and allowed our industry enough time to develop todays technology, rather than forcing us to jury-rig the cars of the time to meet all the new regulations by a date certain, we would have had the great cars and trucks that we have today, ten or fifteen years SOONER.
