The benefits of Iodine are many in that it can help goiters, hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid), fibrocystic diseases, and exposure to radiation.
The condition of hair, skin, nails and teeth can be improved with the proper amount of iodine.
Iodine is necessary for the production of thyroid hormones which are necessary for normal metabolism.
Side Effects and Deficiency
Side effects of iodine would be indicated by thyroid dysfunction, itching, rashes, and lesions on the skin. Gastro-intestinal problems and hypothyroidism are also side effects. Thyroid problems can be indicated by such things as fatigue, weight gain or loss, dry skin and goiter.
