After asking the employee to make it sweeter, the customer and her daughter took the drink home and was trying to add their own sugar when they noticed some phlegm. All was recorded on video. A 19-year old employee was arrested and charged with unlawful and malicious tampering of food.

In a fast food, low pay, long hours and little respect from customers or management. You might be surprised what goes on that you don't see, i have seen it. 'Disgusting' is a light way to describe. When I go to a fast food, regardless where, I watch. Fortunately, most fast food today makes the work area visible to all, there's a reason for this. It's not a new phenomena.

Thats disgusting. My wife and I went for a meal at a local resturant a few years ago and there was a beatle walking around in the salad. I reported it to the local health people and they went round and checked the kitchens, and made them close down for a day and fumigate the place.The manager offered us a free meal, we didn't bother going back for that, I was a bit worried about what they might do to it.

I consider spitting on someone, or into their food, assault, and have for over 5 years. (I'll spare you the story.)
I don't care how little your hourly rate may be, if you don't like a customer service job, don't take one. I'll start tomorrow, with a smile on my face for everyone, no matter how difficult or unpleasant. I' d be thankful I was working.
I hope the kid gets a huge fine, community service for a bazillion hours, and probation for 10 years. AND gets fired with no unemployment benefits EVER, AND is never eligible for ANY kind of welfare AND all kinds of other consequences. I hope everyone working who saw him and didn't report him get the same, starting with the manager.
ZERO tolerance for this.

I'm with Vinny here- all restaurants do gross things..uncalled for things. I think there should be cameras to watch the workers. I worked at a couple of restaurants...yick! It is amazing we live through it and don't get sick! The spitter guy will hopefully learn a lesson-and I hope the restaurant does too. It I am going to be sharing spit with someone I want to chose them...and share in a more intimate way!
