    how to figure out 5% of 14.50

    To find a specific percentage of a number, multiply the number by the percentage.  Percentages are in 100ths, so 60% would be .60   
     As Benthere showed you, 5% is .05.   1.00 is 100%.

    14.5  is divided by 100 give you 0.145


    multiply that by the percent you need 5 time 0.145=0.725

    I can appreciate that but it was a homework question and it's 25 days old. I just wanted to make you aware that we do get people who come back complaining about the e-mail alerts and wanting to know how to remove themselves from the site. We prefer for them to keep using us, rather than leave us ;)
