I liked the 40's. Young enough to be living and old enough to know better..........

I like that. I shall steal it from you (or him)...

Hm! What the hell were the 39 before it?

    Makes PERFECT !!!;-> (Ducky)...don`t you agree??!! ;-))

I NEVER really got this age worry thing!:-0...I must say I`M certainly THE HAPPIEST I`VE EVER BEEN...and i`m the "wrong" side of 40!!!...;-)..It`s all in the mind!!...LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!!...:-)

    I like this rule here>>>

“The 18/40/60 Rule: When you’re 18, you worry about what everybody is thinking of you; when you’re 40, you don’t give a darn what anybody thinks of you; when you’re 60, you realize nobody’s been thinking about you at all.” ~Dr. Daniel Amen

Every day when you wake up in the morning you beging the rest of your life even when that is a day or less.

Maybe it means that everything we do up to that point is preparation.  At 40, like it's been said, the career is in place, the family and home are in place, the relationship is in place.  NOW you start doing stuff you WANT to do because you have done all the stuff you HAD to do.  NOW you are secure and can be a bit more carefree.
I don't necessarily agree with that.

They say life begins when the last child leaves home, and the dog dies. My late husb used to add > " And when that happens, don't get another one of either " Laff.

He had a point, but I can't imagine not having a dog!!!

yep, all good, just  as well cause it all turns to crap at 50

I find that it's an observation that advances along with my declining years.

You certainly dont look it Ann,I think of you as only about 25,

    Ann

Hector you are so sweet. I wish I was 25 and knew what I know today.

I never noticed. I was always very busy and the last of my children left when I was 50 yrs. old. I dont believe its true for everyone, just like it is not true when they call retirement the "Golden Years.

YES ANN. So true But we must get on with what we have .Health no money problems roof over our head food on the table .My MUM`s "Saying.take care of yourself."Girl!!

Ever wonder what about everybody under 40 who died???

At 40, you've got things pretty much figured out and you're at the peak of your life and career.  Everything's downhill from then on.  You've got money, kids are nearly grown, spouse is terrific, health is still good and life is great!

I think it could apply.Certainly some people don't grow up until they turn 40 or so.

that's definately true. After many long term relationships that went nowhere, I finally met the man I married when I was 38. We got married when I was one month away from 40. When I was 43, we bought our house. It was my first marriage and house. . It was Joe's 2nd of both. And we went on a week long cruise. My 40s were the best decade of my life.

Life is a daily event. Make it happen!
