But then I could drop a couple of Aussie names that you would have trouble placing I s'pose.
Barry Crocker,Johnny O'Keefe,Jim Iliffe,Alfie Langer,Wally Lewis.
Rod Stewart is a "friend" of mine, we used to travel with the same company to see the Scotland International football team away games, we still send Christmas cards, the only problem I have with him is he supports CELTIC FC, not exactly my favourites.

I spent four or five hours talking with and being entertained in a small club by B.B. King and Lucille(his guitar). He is a very classy, very gentle and genuine man who does not flaunt his fame nor ego!...Another time,my brother and I were blasting up a dirt backroad to his ranch when we saw a long white limo crawling down the hill toward us,so we slowed right down and stopped window to window with the back seat and the window rolled down and we were blown away because there,as big as life itself was Johnny Cash and June Carter beaming at us from the back seat!!Johnny said"Hi there!I'm Johnny Cash and this is my wife June!"...and my swift brother says"Well howdy Johnny!I'm Monty "Smith" and this is my sweet sister Lindi Lou!"He told us to come see them at the club"The Red Barn",a huge C&W dance club in the middle of Bison country! What a hoot! Thanks for asking!:)

For me it was the infamous Joe Strummer formely of the the clash (the only band that matters) as well as a few different enities including the Pouges . It was late night in B-town after one of his gigs , we all waited around a bar called the channel for him to show up...Wrong bar so i and my brother hightailed our butts to JJ folleys and just when every one was leaving in walks the messiah himself, i played it cool like he was no big deal, when the time was right i cracked a joke muck to his amuse, he bought me a pint and we sat down, two and a half hours later we we arm in arm crying "I love you man" he even drew me a pitchure on the inside of a pack of marlboros of the Brittish navy shooting at the US navy wich I still have to this day.....Ask me about my encounter with Iggy POP , i kid you not..

And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
A Pair Of Brown Eyes
Fairytale Of New York
if you're asking me, which you weren't. ;)
Waltzing Matilda gives me shivers every time I hear it.
I met Troy Donahue in an elevator in a police station while I was being transported to the county jail. I couldn't shake his hand as I was handcuffed from behind. I asked if he could autograph my shirt, one of the detectives transporting me gave him a pen and they started laughing as he signed my shirt. I remembered him as a young man, his age was showing. I still have the shirt.

He was a big heartthrob for me as a young teenager. My favourite movie with him in it was "A Summer Place", co-starring Sandra Dee. I guess he had big trouble with the bottle as the years passed.
Shook hands with two Communist Romanian dictators when they visited the factory where I was working. Ceausescu was the second of them and some of you might have heard oh him. During the same period of time I shoook hands and actually had more than one conversation with Ion Iliescu who later, after the fall of communism, became the 1st President on the noncommunist Romania at which time I was out of Romania for more than 11 years.

I have avoided fame all of my life so that I can live an ordinary life. The price of fame is that you are met by folk you have never come to know and cherish, who express admiration for what they think you did before you know them whatsoever. Many will judge a famous person based on hearsay and act on that heresy regardless, it’s merit or lack of merit without question. Fame robs a person of their freedom of self expression by implicating all that has been done in the past too. I remain Anonymous and in that, without a whispered memory to plague me to my grave I have the luxuary to live in the open light of day.

When I was growing up in WV in the early 70s I lived across the street from a bar that was converted into a recording studio. As a teen, I used to hang out with the owner after school and watch the recording. Mostly they were local artists, but I did meet some artists like John Sebastian, John Denver, Glen Campbell and BJ Thomas.

What I remember about him is how gracious and kind he was, actually talking with my parents'other child and me. I still have the 8 x 10 B/W glossy he autographed for me, probably 50 years ago. Having dinner with him would have been a pleasure!
