    how do you repair rotted floors and roofs of a 28 foot 1997 travel trailor

    we live in this we bought it .please help were poor and this is the cheapest way to go .were just trying to survive and stay off the streets thank you.

    It would be hard to say without actually seeing it, but a lot of times people just reinforce the walking areas with a marine plywood. Then they just floor over it.


    Regarding the ceiling and roof...you can take out sections of the ceiling, pull out the old insulation, and reinforce the existing roof structure with pressure treated lumber being put in beside the old. That way you don't end up disturbing the skin of of it, while strengthening your roof. Put fresh insulation back up, and use lightweight tiles that can be stapled to the strapping.


    Where it is a unit designed for over the road travel, the most important thing to remember would be...that the straps running the length of the trailer be tied in to one another. This is so that, it flexes as one big piece, rather than a bunch of small pieces. (This will be more resistant to it pulling itself apart.)


    With things like this, you really have to examine how much money and effort you want to sink into it, versus the cost and expected longevity of it is.
