The state with the highest unemployment rate in the US is in Nevada: 12%. The metropolitan area with the highest unemployment in the US is El Centro, CA with 26.7% of unemployment. So there isn’t a place in the US where the majority of the population is unemployed.

I don't know how you can accurately report on this. as I understand it, unemployment is based on how many unemployment recipients are receiving benefits, these benefits aren't forever, therefore many 'roll off' the report as they are no longer receiving. Of course the media gets these numbers and assumes these people no longer receiving has secured a job. Not so! The jobless rate is 'almost' as bad as it was in the great depression. Taking into account 100 million people in 1929 vs 300 million people today.
