      7(x+4)=9(x-2)


      Multiply:  7(x + 4)     9(x - 2)


      7x + 28  =  9x - 18


       7x  +  28  =  9x  -  18


      -9x     -28     -9x     -28      


      -2x              =         -46  


      -2                            -2


      Answer:  x = 23


      Check answer:  Put (23) in place of (x) in the problem.


      7(23 + 4)  =  9(23 - 2)


       161 + 28  =  207 - 18


             189      =       189
