In the USA and Canada, we have a 5 (or 9) digit postal code (also called a Zip Code). For example, in Houston, Texas one part of the city's Postal Code is 77092. These numbers follow the State when one is addressing an envelope.

Other countries, such as in the Middle East and in Europe, do not have these same Postal Codes. When you are asked for the Postal Code, just write in N/A (not applicable). Once the Post Office or college sees where you are from, they will not require this information from you.

If you plan on living in a country where they do use Postal Codes, you would need to find out which part of the city you are going to live, and then use the appropriate Postal Codes.

You can find these out by doing a search on the Internet for Postal Codes of selected cities.
