use an ice pack like the ones you freeze and put into a small esky or ice blocks all around and on top of the chewy. This will freeze it making it brittle and should be easily removed with a hobby knife or razor blade. Another is eucalyptus oil. This dissolves the gum and is not recommended for gum in the hair as it results in the gum just being spread down the entire length of the hair. In my daughters case that was down to her bottom. But for carpet gum the oil method is fine. Just have the blade positioned at the base of where the gum contacts the carpet use cotton wool wet with oil. Hold on top of gum while slowly lifting gum from carpet as it dissolves the contact area. wash the spot with a dribble of dish washing liquid and a hot sponge if oil mark left. Rub some eucalyptus oil onto the gum, and then gently scrape off.

Ice works sometimes, to solidify the gum, and let it to be softly scraped off with a knife. Leave the ice sitting on the gum long enough to freeze it hard, then scrape the gum off.

Using the ice method, scrape away as much gum as possible then apply peanut butter and rub it out, shampoo as usual....

Just cut a hole in the carpet,apox, the size of the gum,and lift out same,this can after a time can leave quite a pritty pattern in the carpet,that will be ,a one off desinge,that can attract ,commets of your inguinuity,
