I have baked the same chocolate chip cookies for 35+ years (my mom's recipe). I recently moved to New Mexico and it seems that most of the time they go flat!! The ones I used to make were "fluffy". I thought maybe I had mixed the sugar and margarine too long, but I just don't know now. HELP

It may have something to do with the altitude of where you are, or humidity. Many recipes need modification due to elevation and/or humidity. I'd check that first. Good luck!

I agree about the altitude. Maybe too the ingredients are different in that part of the country. Maybe the flour is different. I would think humidity would be drier in New Mexico. Also maybe cooking time is different and the oven??
Good points, clu. I think baking soda causes the cookies to be puffy. Maybe new baking soda needs to be used.
clu, I too think the raising agent in flours differ, I often make my own S.R flour for that reason
