I'm sure before you went to what ever country you went to, the do's and don'ts concerning eating and drinking -- only bottled water or coke made in USA or Canada, and only processed foods from the same countries, it is unwise to eat or drink from the markets there in Central and South America or Asia. -- Montazuma's revenge, Delhi belly, Bali rush.

You must have gone to Mexico or Central or South America; b/c that phrase refers to going to those areas and eating the local food. - - - - - Because your digestive system is not used to it, you can get liquid stool for days or weeks. That's what happened to me when I went to Central America. .

I traced it to the corn-dog when a friend, who ate 4 of them, was up and down for 4 days.
I guess the question came to me from hind-sight, it all happened a few weeks ago. I had things to do!

It is because of the different parasites in the water and that your body is not used to them. You don't have to go to another country to become afflicted you just need to go outside of your water source. I once visited Pennsylvania and became ill but no one else in my family did. You didn't do anything to deserve being ill and no one ever does.

Spent a week on the island of Cozamel. On my last night had lobster about 4 am. thought I was going to die. Our flight was to leave at 11am that day. At 7am that morning had hotel call me a doctor he came to my room I was so sick gave me a shot of something I didn't ask didn't care and 4 Valium for the flight. I had been so carefull all week about what ate will NEVER do that again. Have stayed away from all sea food while visiting foreign countries it hasn't happened since knock on wood.
