What "convenience" would you find it most difficult to give up?

A short list to consider (come up with your own if different, of course):  cell phone, computer, GPS, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer, automobile, telephone, indoor plumbing,  grocery store, microwave........

    Bob/PKB

That's not gonna happen! I don't see anyone giving up women, either!

    Running water.............

    dowsa

Can you catch it alright .You must be good at running.

This is curious because my husband and I have been mulling over the things we really don't need.  The carbon footprint thing.

Indoor plumbing gets my vote.  This is something I really enjoy having and the convenience I choose to keep should I be forced to give all others up.

    hector5559

But the indoor pluming would not work without the outdoor plumming,??????

clean running water as jh said

    doolittle

    dowsa

Nope..just sounds like a guy. LOL

electricity, without it I really have nothing!  Not even water as we live in the country and have a water pump. heat,, cooking, cooling Almost every thing!

    doolittle

good point. I lived in the country at one point- we lost power a lot- what a PIA that was!
    Howso?

I lived in the country at one time also. Boy, do I understand! :(
    Howso?

YES, same here. NO elctricity = no water. :-(

indoor plumbing including running water and electricity

Electricity! and water! food!... maybe akaQA.

Electricity......without it I would'nt be able to access akaQA

    Telephone

    Howso?

    Eeek Gadds!! I would LOVE to completely ditch my phone!! I ONLY answer it if it is my daughter or husband. All others leave a message and MAYBE I"ll call back.....(usually not, if I can help it). Sounds harsh, I know, but I hate being on the phone,....and can't say just why,..always has been the case. Perhaps having to answer the phone at work no less than 100 times everyday may have a bit to do with it. :-}

Electricity and indoor plumbing. We lost our power many times and it is awful, especially in winter.

    cable,  electricity, freezer,

The ones you said: indoor plumbing, microwave, computers, automobile, telephone, grocery store, washer/dryer.

    Bob/PKB

LOL...you don't sound like you really want to give up any of our conveniences !!!!! :D
    millie111

LOL!!:-) (NOT ASKING MUCH THEN)???!!! :->

The sewer system, it would be definately  inconvenient not to have one, and the computer.

    ed shank

I'd rather take a dump in the woods than lose my microwave.

    Bob/PKB

I see...perhaps I don't want an ed shank clone after all.
    ed shank

UPS is dropping it off tommorrow. Just flush it. Wait, TOAST, I can make toast.
    Bob/PKB

OK, if you can make toast, I'll keep "you". We'll work on boiling water and pretty soon you'll be making Mac n Cheese!
    ed shank

Bob. Your such an understanding and helpful lady. I'm going to practice water boiling later.
    Bob/PKB

Good boy! Try just 1 cup for starters. Then pour it into a "coffee cup" and dangle a teabag in an out for a minute or so. You have just made a cup of tea!!! More later. :D
    doolittle

It's more fun if you boil water in pyrex...you can watch all of the bubbles!

I love the ATM.  When it first came out I ran and got my dad to show it to him.  I love lights, TV, recording devices.  and of course the automobile. FAX is fabulous too.

    My computer.

My Wife. She is so good to me. ahhhh

    A "convenience"????? lol
    friendindeed

    Very convenient.lol

Sorry I can't vote anyone up, I'm too" new.  Michmar118 here, it's a long confusing story but I did post it.  Wide range of answers here.......I'd say water, especially clean water pumped into the house, with the memory of the experince of having no water for 2 1/2 days last fall when my well pump went bad and I live in the stix!    Also, not having a vehicle, especially in bad weather,  because I live in the stix!!  But, overall it's worth it....

    Howso?

You know I just noticed such an irony. While looking at the long list of friends posting "New Notifications" and there being one after the other of "(certain person) has voted up your answer-'sorry I can't vote anyone up....'"! Thank you, all of you. Makes a person feel special.......And thank you, too as I'm rebuilding karma points with your help. (Again, though I hope this persona is temporary!) Best......from michmar.

Electricity...it would be the hardest to work around not having available. Not impossible though.

    Bob/PKB

I like your attitude. Always have :D

    Sanitation

All of the above except (as yet) I don't own a cell phone (leave me alone people haha) nor a dishwasher (washing dishes is relaxing to me) but I would miss everything else....land line phone, computer, tv, radio, microwave (only a little), car, washer, dryer, water, all of it!!!  Don't make me go back....please!!!!     :)

    millie111

Haha...me too...I find washing up therapeutic...we do have a dishwasher..but i find it more hassle!NO mobile phone? Oh you so have the right idea!!..I`m always getting told off for not picking up..or missing calls!..oh I SO WANT TO BE YOU!
    Ducky

    Moderator
I have people accuse me of not answering my home phone! "You never pick up"! Duh, that's because I'm not home!!! My friends are so dorky! LOL!!! (Oh I guess that says something about me.)
    millie111

No ducky...gone are the days when you could march to the shops/out..w/out having to make excuses as to why you weren`t on the end o a phone...I HATE all phones..they panic me...I often only pick up on family...skools etc...Oh I can talk talk talk face to face..just phonophobia sets in!!!

yep, all of the above, but ugh (should I say) the TV , keeps me company

My car i know it's not on the list but life would really s%^& without it,,,

    Bob/PKB

Car is definitely a convenience. Imagine riding a bicycle to work 10 miles one way or a horse! Goodness

""        My computer, but also electricity and indoor plumbing !!!!

    facebook

    It wont work without "Electricity"
    Spaceghost

    Right on !!!

My "Wife`s "Tongue!! Never get tired of it .Love the "Lashings great vocabulary"

    Cellphone, computer with internet.

My vehicle.Australia is a big place.Getting around without a car would be a nightmare.

BEN N JERRY`S ,GREEN N BLACK ALL ICE CREAM!!.....OK..HAS TO BE MY FREEZER..AND MY ICE CREAM MACHINE!...(AM I ALLOWED THAT TOO)??????!!!! :-Z

    Bob/PKB

Absolutely you get both! What is better than homemade ice cream???? Nuttin!

My car, it is my link to freedom and independence.

I have lived without electricity, reticulated water, indoor dunny , telephone and I could live without them again.

I could live without my car if I had a horse and sulky, but as that is impossible today I will stay with my car.

You can carry the words of the Bible in your head and in your heart, Randy. However, it would not be easy to carry a microwave around. LOL
