    Where is the thermostat on my 1999 oldsmobile aurora and how do I know if it's the thermostat making my car overheat coolant and water are full

    I'm a single mother in late 30's don't know much about cars please help and with good details and instructions.

    follw top hose to engine block ,thermostat should be under the connecting bit to engine , also when motor overheats does the thermo fan start ?a lot of the times where a engine overheats its the electric switch that turns the fan on thats the problem , but from  what you have said it does sound like thermostat is stuck closed 

    The only way to test a thermostat is to remove it & drop it in hot water.If it opens it's OK.But if you are going to the trouble of taking it out you migt as well replace it with a new one.
