      Long enough to drive you insane!  If its in the house that is.  I don't hear crickets in California, they must like more humid environment, I remember them when i lived in ohio, as long as they are outside they would put me to sleep if I had the bedroom window open but inside the house its as bad as a dripping faucet.

        House crickets  live about two to three months.

          You might try checking the battery in you smoke alarm also, they can be tricky!
