What I think it means is that when you accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, His sacrifice on the cross pays the price for your sins. (I don't even want to know how much I'd owe for my sins). Your acceptance of Christ opens the gate to Heaven.
Christians believe that by acknowledging your sins to Christ, asking for forgiveness and accepting His death as your redemption, you are saved from eternal hell. It's not a license to be a jerk.
This is what I believe these words from the Bible mean.

It means when you know the truth about who God is and who Jesus is, adn what he did for us, then you will be free of the worry of dreading death. And you will be free of major sins, b/c God will lead you away from them. God loves you.

If feeling or finding God can do this for a person their life can be much better than before. God bless them.

"The truth" is singular meaning something in particular, whereas "Truth" would be moreso all encompassing, many things.

If I may put my 5c worst. the way I also understand is , You cannot serve two master, one is worldly things and the other is God! Kringing when recalling past events is a soul and spirit killer. Knowing that looking back without the burden of regrets, its almost impossible to exlain.
