I heard one time if you rub it against your teeth it should feel gritty. If it feels smooth, they are fake.

    Also heard this too.

    Its still in the shell.

If there is more than one pearl to test, the easiest method is to rub test. Simply take two of the pearls and gently rub them together, moving pearls in circles against each other. If pearls are artificial, the surface will be glossy smooth. If the pearls are genuine the faces will have bit of texture, a bit of tooth,.This slight roughness isnt discernible just by feeling the surface of the pearl but it is noticeable when two genuine pearls are rubber together

    I love pearls.Any color freshwater.

I've always heard to rub them against your teeth, if they feel rough, they are real.  I'm wearing fresh water pearls right now and they are rough feeling to me...........

pearls are beautiful, anyway you look at them....so I can't say really. It's a bit like finding the real gold against the not so real gold. It takes a trained eye of beauty to find the real thing!!!
