I do not know about today but as of 2011, 91.1% of TV households had cable or satellite
I have had Cable TV in my home in Pennsylvania, way back in December of 1948.
Service Electric Cable TV in Mahanoy City Pa was the first paid Cable TV in the world. It cost $3 a month
The inventor of Cable was my Uncle Jack Large in 1947 but it provided it free service to all the folks in Tuscarora Pennsylvania who purchased a TV set from him
Back then in the mountains, we could only get three stations out of Philadelphia
My Uncle and John Walsonavage (later shorted to Walson,) where both Radiomen in the US Navy.
He and Uncle Jack both owned Radio/TV stores in the two towns, 15 mile apart. Uncle Jack was selling more TV is his little town than John in his larger town
John went to see him and ashed how he was doing that.
Jack told him the installed a antenna on the top of the mountains to get the six New York stations as as well as the Philly stations.and built "repeaters" to boost the signals to the homes.
John was smarter, he charged $3 and wired the whole ares, the rest is history. SECTV is recognized at the world firsts Cable Company and it still in business today throughout north easter PA.
