      4/16 + 3 3/17


      1/4 + 3 3/17 > multiply denominators 4 * 17 = 68


      Note: 4/16 was reduced to 1/4


      68 is the common denominator.


      1/4 * 17/17 = 17/68


      3 3/17 * 4/4 = 3 12/68


      Add: 17/68 + 3 12/68 = 3 29/68


      Answer: 3 29/68


      Or,


      4/16 + 3 3/17


      4/16 + 54/17 > Note: 3 3/17 was changed to an improper fraction.


      Multiply denominators 16 * 17 = 272


      4/16 * 17/17 = 68/272


      3 3/17 * 16/16 = 3 48/272


      Add: 68/272 + 3 48/272 = 3 116/272 


      Reduce: 3 116/272 / 4/4 = 3 29/68
