You probably downloaded something recently and didnt read every window that popped up. games and programs usually have a sponsor ; Bing,Google Chrome,Inbox , etc. and when you are downloading each step asks you a question; where to store the program, do you want a shortcut added to your desk top?, would you like to install Bing as your browser?....and so on. you just checked yes like most of us do . Read the steps when you are downloading programs you will get alot of crap on your computer including viruses,if your not careful.
Start menu > Control panel > add/uninstall programs > locate the toolbar > uninstall

Thanks Colleen, have tried that but I cannot identify the tool bar. So it seems I am stuck with it.
Check for conduit engine. It could be Bing and it hides under that name. If all else fails, try this Toolbar remover http://toolbarcleaner.com/?gclid=CJnF3ICw8awCFQlrhwodkwEUMQ
