Well, I'm glad for you that it's your term of endearment for the dog...and your not walking around going by that name. I was beginning to wonder if you had a shopping cart with a laptop for a mobile home!

That happened a lot to me when I was single... early 40's.  I did eventually meet my husband who is only 21 days younger than me.  Be patient.

    gloriafrmCal

Thank you for answer gives me hope. And glad you didn't ask about my name which by the way is what I call my dog. Couldn't think of anything original and could remember.

Sounds to me you're probing for a complement???   You're in your 60's and rejecting 40 year olds??

    gloriafrmCal

Not fishing for compliments just trying to find someone with something interesting to talk about and not a lot of baggage.

There are actually single men in our age bracket where you live?  I'll start packing.
I have been single since 2003, when my ex-husband decided it was a good idea to leave a 51 year old woman with three teen-aged boys and go "find himself and be whole".
When I finally picked myself up and got back to life, it became obvious, painfully obvious, that there were no men in their 50's who wanted to date women in their 50's.  They were looking for the 20-40 somethings.  THAT IS YOUR ANSWER...SINGLE (AND EVEN MARRIED) MEN OUR AGE DON'T WANT US; THEY WANT YOUNGER WOMEN (ARM CANDY) TO MAKE THEM FEEL YOUNG AND VIRILE.
I have since dated men who ranged in age from 21 - 60.  This past year has been particularly difficult; I let down my guard and was very hurt by someone who still thinks I consider him a friend. Now with 60 upon me, I'm not too optimistic about meeting a man who will be my partner in life for the next 40 years. But I'm not ready to give up...and I have a gentleman
friend (he is 48) who is making dinner for us on my birthday. I have my family and friends, faith, fairly good health, a job, and countless blessings beyond these.

Thank you for changing your name.  Stinkie-anything was just wrong.  :D

If I had to find someone at my age, It would be difficult. Not many women would want this old SOB. I have a strange hobby, love loud hard rock, and refuse to get any older.

    ed shank

You are a gluten for punishment.
    gloriafrmCal

PKB, I am trying to stay optimistic about meeting someone.I am envious you have someone in your life, having a male friend...I can't find the right words perfect maybe. Also, trying the online dating thing.Yea,I know.I'll let you know how it goes. And I'm glad they finally got around to changing my name for me, what a major error on my part.
    Bob/PKB

    ed shank: we'll see :D
gloriafrmCal: I've been on a couple of dating sites for several years. There have been a few good connections, but nothing serious. I have some "friends"...no lovers or possibilities.
    mycatsmom

    Ed, maybe she's on a gluten-free diet ;-)
    Bob/PKB

mycatsmom: sharp lady! yep. gluten-free :D

So just relax...can't you go out for dinner or a movie with a younger man?  You might find him interesting to talk with or he may have some interesting friends, relatives, co-workers who would be more to your liking.  Don't limit yourself.  A date is not a marriage commitment...it's just a date!

    Perfect!
    gloriafrmCal

Yes, I do agree with you but feel I should bring along a bib for him. Sarcasm, not attractive, I know but the comment about more energy sounds like fun.

    Go for it! :)
    mycatsmom

They're more fun. I would love to go out with a younger man. hee hee.

I'm not sure but why did you pick the name you did?

    gloriafrmCal

its what I call my dog and couldn't think of anything more original that I could remember.

My husband passed away when I was in my eary forties and I moved to another state. I joined a local singles club and the array of much younger men looking for older women was unbelievabable. I only went there a few times. It was a total turnoff.

You probably also look younger than your age. Join a club or join a church. It is much safer.

    gloriafrmCal

Thank you for your answer some seem to think we are fishing for compliments but that's not it at all. I think i look my age 61.
    mycatsmom

yes, a church singles group is good. Never had any problems with the men I met there. I went there before I met my late husband. But, now , I don't go there, b/c it's 10---12 miles away. They moved, and I moved.

Maybe you look younger than your age, or it's your username drawing them like flies! (But, if you don't mind me asking, what's up with your username?)

    gloriafrmCal

lol... The name is what I call my dog.

Be flattered. As insane as this sounds, I did business with a local parts supplier who's 25 year old extremely attractive daughter was hitting on these old bones. I live in a small community and apparently this young lady made some very flattering comments about this old dog. I'm smiling.

Sometimes an "older man" is sought after. Why? $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Not saying that is all that "YOU" would have to offer but..... :)
    ed shank

I have grandchildren that age. A pervert I'm not. But I'll take a little flattery wherever I can get it.
    Ducky

And why not be flattered? It's good for the soul isn't it? :)
    mycatsmom

Many women are drawn to " the older man " ....b/c he is seen as being more dashing, more exciting, richer, more settled, more experienced with life; more nuturing, prob b/c he's raised children adn has grandchlidren. I used to be one of those younger women who was drawn to the older man, but now I'M the older woman, hee hee, and so any older man would be in his 70s, and no thanks. I already worked in nursing homes.

gloria, many men and women don't think being the same age (or close to it) as a requirement for dating.  My guess is you look great, are very interesting, and full of life.  Follow your interests...painting, hiking, whatever they are....join groups of singles with these interests....That 40 something may have a 50or 60 somehing friend- you never know.....

One time a guy 10 yrs younger showed interst in me. I didn`t understand this. A girlfriend told me.  Life goes on.

    gloriafrmCal

Yea, go figure. Not they didn't show an interest but there are so many more attractive young women out there and some of those guys act like my SON...Yuck!

IFyou like older men i am 62.5, but i don't really like to travel, l got a wonky wheel on my zimmer.

    gloriafrmCal

    I do like, but what's a zimmer?
    Dollybird

Zlmmer, is another name for , walker.
    mycatsmom

    What's a wonky wheel ?
    Dollybird

mycatsmom, wonky wheel, is wheel that needs repair.

A zimmer is a frame with wheels on that you push along and it helps support you and keep you steady on your feet  (l donot reallyhave one just having a laugh with you) not at you

    gloriafrmCal

No offense taken, we call zimmers walkers. Here the older people also add bright green tennis balls on the front two legs to steady them. I had a dog that enjoyed chasing tennis balls, I took her to a nursing home to visit and she went around chasing these walkers(zimmer) trying to grab the balls...it was quite funny to watch.
    lewboy

Your dog sounds like fun,but so do you and it is nice to hear from you.
I am in Birmingham, England hence the comment about not travelling.
    gloriafrmCal

It's very nice talking to you as well. I live in a small farming community in northern California. Sacramento is the capitol of Calif. and I live 50mi north of there. Hummm,England...i hear it rains a lot there, is that true? what a lame question.

After reading all the comments, I have come to only one conclusion, Gloria:  You must be hot!  Good for you!!!!

I got the same problem. Used to have no trouble getting dates, even when I was in my 50s. But, now that I'm in my 60s, .........nothing. I used to be skinny and had in contact lenses. But now, I'm not so skinny and wear glasses. I've been told I 'm still a good-looking woman.  The trouble with men is.....that the older ones want to go out with the young, chics, b/c  those girls are more supple, thinner, more fun, adn less worn down by life. That's why the men don't want to date anyone their age. I too prefer younger men, but they don't look at older women.  They should , b/c older women make better lovers.

Oh , your interested , its something new and your not use to it.  But you stay where its known to be on the safe side. Take a chance. Have some fun.

Unfortunately a fact of life, they are looking at the younger women. Pardon the french but was advised that there are different categories of women that men like to "politely put" associate with .. please translate accordingly, I would say" have a fling", WILF's and MILF's.. Women I like to "have a fling with" and Milfs' Mothers I like to "Have a fling with". and the ladies over their age (older) are supposedly so desperate that they are the likely contenders in the "have a fling with" category. Also less complicated because they allegedly know what they want. I must congratulate you :). You must be a great looking lady to get attention from a man, no matter what their ulterior motives are :). And I do hope it continues into your 70th and 80th years :).

i can answer this for you  a little.  i have brother in your age group. one did loose a wife a few yrs ago and tthough he says he has no intrest . i know he is lieingl he has no  way to know where to start. he also has no money.  he does not drink any more . so bars are out. and he  was a real home body. so that  leaves him  twitteling his thumbs. another brother who is older   did remarry after one wife  left him .  and  then she died  and so he remarried and this woman   really did a no on  him.  so it left him kinda gun shy. but his biggest reason i think. was  he just had no money after rent and meds and helping his kids.   he has just passed away. and i had tried to get him to date he had so much to offer.   maybe thats it the good ones are gone.  the  third wife left because she was forty and he was fifty and a dibetic   and  with that  things did not hold up. if you get my drift. i would tell you to go for the younger man. i am married to a younger  man  and trust me you are missing out. and then  when you need someone to care for you they are there. men die ten yrs before youl. so why set yourself up to be a widow.    not a great thought to me.

    eggplant

At least you'll have someone to wheel you around in your wheel-chair later on.
    Dollybird

eggplant, not because the husband is younger, that he will be pushing his older wife around in wheel chair. I have younger husband, his health is not good. A wife could become a widow, no matter what age her husband is.

i think that u should have a open mine about this guy & STOP THINKING ABOUT HOW OLD U R OR HIM LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST BECAUSE NOMATTER WHAT U DO OR SAY OR ACKED IF U  Was NOT THINKING ABOUT GOING OUT BWITH HIM OR CHATING U WOULD HAVE NNNEEEVVVEEERRRR WROTE ABOUT OPEN UR EYES &THINK ABOUT GOING OUT WITH HIM & FROM WOMEN TO WOMEN AGO DOOOONNNNTTTT MATTER  and U KNOW IT & I THINK UR SCARED 2 GO OUT WITH HIM BECAUSE U KNOW U WIL LIKE IT AND MAY BECOME MORE THEN A ONE NITE THING OR MAYBE UR SCARED BECAUSE U KNOW ONCE U                             SHOW HIM A REALLY WOMEN HE'LL WONT U MORE  &MORE YOULL MAKE HIM  FILL IN LOVE & TRYEN HIS WORLD UP SIDE DOWN AND ARTER ALL OF THAT U WIL CHANGE THAT MAN 4 LIFE 4YOUR SELF OR ANTHER WOMEN & HE WIL NEVER 4 GET U & NOMATTER IF YA LL WORK OUT OR NOT HE'LL NEVR 4 GET U & THE WOMEN  THAT HE INNS UP WITH WILLL BE THINKFUL 4 WHAT U MADE  U MADE HIM IN 2 AND HOW U OPENED HIS EYES 2 A HOLE NEW LOOK OUT AT WOMEN & HIS SELF & HOW HE WONTS TO BE ........ALLL BECAUSE OF UUUUU..............
