Well, first I wait for them to perch on something solid, that's not blowing in the wind like the branch of a tree. Then I shoot it with a trnaquilizer gun, and wait for it to take effect, to minimize the possibility of it attacking. Once it is sedated I usually secure its wings with 1" high strength chain, and then take an upside-down jar with chloroform dampened gauze placed on the lid.
But, you can always just skip everything except the upside-down jar with the chlorform soaked gauze, and put it to sleep. I believe that's how it's most commonly done for collecting purposes

So what have you learned with your question ? Are you pleased with your results ? As a word of advice : Choose your questions with more care ,is it not better to be liked than to be held in contempt .
