On a serious note, 21 years ago, I took my 6-week old son to NY from CA by plane. I had a good supply of diapers and formula, bottles, pacifiers, etc., along with a couple of changes of clothing/pj's. You never know if you are going to be stranded while your luggage goes on without you, or your luggage gets left behind.
He traveled well, for the most part. The pressure problem during ascent can be uncomfortable for baby as well as you. The pacifier helped alot. On the way home, he started crying and his dad (who was on the return trip) wanted me to make him stop. I reassured him that within ten minutes, our son would be quiet and, most likely, asleep. It was 8 1/2 minutes, but the rest of the ride was peaceful. Back then, other passengers were patient. I don't know what kind of rudeness you would encounter today.
OH, to answer your question..................YES. Check with your baby's physician first, though.
