A pace maker regulates the beat of the heart,a defibrillator shocks the heart back into rhythm..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..""""

In addition, the pacemaker is placed inside your body, with a "lead" to your heart that picks up on your heart beat. The defibrillator is a contraption that is found in emergency rooms, surgery rooms, crash carts, etc. If you have a pacemaker, it needs to be monitored on a regular basis, too

They were thinking about a Cardioverter Defibrillator be inserted in my wife's heart,,but then they changed their minds and went for an Ablation around a main artery to stop the sinus node from firing electrical impulses all around the heart,it has been a good 6 months since and it looks like it is successful..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

That is WONDERFUL news. My cousin had successful ablation a while back (she's only 50), but my mom's couldn't be done. Her misfires weren't accessible. :(

G'day Bob,i thought the missfires came via the Pulmonary Veins ,so they only had to burn a circle on the inside of the vein, causing scar tissue, therefore blocking the rogue electrical impulses..???>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

I'm not sure how it works. Cousin had several Burns. Mom's pacemaker had scar tissue that blocked impulses, so it was working on her along with the misfires. It felt like she was always running.

You are right Bob,we were told once we started this procedure we could not stop,,the burn would create scar tissue around the vein blocking the rogue impulses, but after the operation and the swelling subsides, some gaps may appear in the scar tissue,so they have to do the operation again,no telling how many times,,my wife was lucky they got it on the first operation,,there is no cure for Atrial Fibrillation,,the missfires will still be there, but they do not reach the heart to effect it,,before the operation my wife did everything at 100 miles an hour,,nowadays she does everything at about 50 miles an hour..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

So glad it worked for her....a complete blessing!
