    Directly above northern Queensland, Australia.

PNG was until a few years ago a protecterate of Australia.

The German government owned PNG before WW1 and after the war PNG was taken and put in control of the Australian Government.

Australia still gives far to much money to PNG in my opinion.

The PNG people wanted independence and pressure was put on Australia by countries that had no idea what they were talking about, sorry to say including the USA, so they got independence and fell into a bloody great hole.

These were people who until the middle 20th century  still had head hunters and cannibals in many isolated areas. How could they be expected to govern a whole country when all they had done was run their own tribal areas.

A while back they had a "democratic" election and the ruling Prime Minister was defeated BUT refused to step down so they had TWO Prime ministers and two governments.

    Blasted do gooders.
