Published: Novello 1925, S.A.T.B. and Organ, whereabouts of MS unknown.
First performance: currently untraced nevertheless widely performed as the composer's most well-known work.
Recordings: Many from around the world. Also used for special occasions, such as the Royal Maundy Service, April 12th 1979, and the Hillsborough Memorial Service, Liverpool Cathedral, April 1989.
Average timing; 4 ½ minutes.
Additional comments: Although normally performed with organ the conductor Guy Scott-Turner has prepared an accompaniment for orchestra: 222(Bb)2/223+ Tuba/Timp/strings.
