      World War II, or the Second World War (often abbreviated as WWII or WW2), was a global conflict that was underway by 1939 and ended in 1945.

        Ten, WWII started in Europe in 1936 with the takeover of the Ruhr valley then the envision of Poland, by Hitler.   In  August of 1946 we dropped two A-bombs on Japan, ending the war and saved thousands of American and Japanese lives.


        More Americans died in one day at "D Day," over 15,000 in the Battle of Normandy, than died in our ten years of war with Iraq and Afghanistan.
