You might have downloaded Google Chrome (which I hate) . But even if its not the case try to reboot your computer . If that doesnt solve it , try restoring your computer back to an earlier date by doing the following: Close all your windows and programs then on the left lower corner of your screen and click:
1.) Start ,2) All Programs, 3) Accessories 4.) System Tools ,and then System Restore , restore your computer to an earlier date when it worked well. You will have a few choices to choose from. Its best to select a restore point that has completed updates. follow the directions and answer yes to the questions. DO NOT interupt the process it kind of takes a bit almost making you nervouse that its froze.Eventually your computer will shut off ,then turn back on ,all by its self. DONT DO ANYTHING YET unless it asks for your security code. type that in and allow it to completly noot on its own.,again it may seem like its froze for a long time, dont worry its reprograming itself and it can take a while. Once you are completely rebooted .See if you need any uptates. By clicking Start, then All programs, and then Windows updates. I had simular problems when I downloaded Windows 9 and Google Chrome.
That took care of it . Since you've done all that might as well Cleaar out your cookies and do a Disks Clean Up . To do a disk clean up do steps 1-4 then click on Disk cleanup and then click "All files in this computer" then select OS (C:) click "OK: . It will do its thing and then give you a check list of items just click yes (its all temp files) you should be good to go. If you dont know how to clear your cooking let me know. That should put you back on track . The Windows Updates will make sure your Active X is current

MAKE SURE that when you download ANY programs that you read all the steps. There is usually a part where you are asked if you want to add this (like a tool bar or very commonly Google Chrome)This box is already checked. Decline and uncheck it everytime. Most toolbars add a bunch of crap that changes your settings,.
