I have seen a fish do this. Two Oscars grew up together and spent their entire lives together as a breeding pair. The male passed away and could not be removed from the tank for three days because the female lay her body over his and attacked when we tried to remove him.

That fish stopped eating. Nothing we tried to feed her would change her mind... even the favorites. She passed away a few weeks later... it was hard to watch.

Very sad story. Some times, animals, fish, have more compassion, than humans. For sure they are more loyal, than a lot humans.

Just back one minute and hilarious as ever PL... the urinating marines did tick me off. That is not how true men behave especially when representing their county in the Global arena.
My husband,father, uncles and grandfathers represented their countries and would never have done a thing like that.

There actually is a place called "Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump" in Alberta, Canada... many buffalo jumped to their deaths there ... One went over and the rest followed.
The native Canadians started the ruckus and named the spot afterward.

Yes, she was jealous of the cat, the dog, and the kids. It's tough when you get the bird first. Especially cockatoo's they are extremely attention oriented. Anyhow she was a very cool bird...

OK...so now we are clear that some animals die of heartbreak, some die following the leader, some die bt getting tangled up, some are ill and 'beach themselves", others follow the wrong flight plan....None are an intentioned act of lacking a reason to live and anger combined which would be human suicide. However, the first known serial killers was a mom & daughter team of primates. However, this could have simply been fast cycling PMS.

Having no purpose for remaining alive when their love one dies….That is not suicide as much as having no interest in life. Life without purpose is empty…hollow…meaningless. It is a curious state where all that once had meaning, relevance and purpose are gone. It is a state of living, yet dead. Surviving this state requires the realization of purpose and without purpose…nothing survives. Purpose for life gives reason and motivation for continuation.
