Stay away from people who use them. Don't even experiment. That's how I did it. I'm 49 yrs old and have never tried even one illegal drug.

well its easy to say that when one has not had the same life experiences as the person with the addiction

I grew up in a very abusive family. I had real and valid reason to turn to drugs just to maybe survive the abuse easier. I did not do that. I chose to be stronger than the abuse, mental and physical(and I do mean sever abuse here, not just a slap here or there) and I chose to be strong enough not to use a crutch like drugs. Some members of my family did turn to drugs, so yes, it's easy for me to say, even having faced all that.

Check yourself into rehab if you are addicted and solve the problems that made you turn to drugs in the first place.

That takes a very mature person. You must have "grown up" at a young age.

We were not allowed to be children. My father had no patience for children. We had to act and think like adults. That's the way it was.

Might help to visit a drug rehab centre and speak to those under treatment. Their stories should point you towards abstention. (sustain means to continue, abstain means to refrain from)
