    How about you, tabber?

Bob/PKB. Hi Bob!!! I am not scared to die and I am at peace with the idea of death. However, I hope it's not too soon or too quick.
    Bob/PKB

    Likewise, tabber.

No, I am not afraid of death, it is ineviteble,

I don't feel scared about dying, just the way in which it might happen

Stay away from the middle east. Getting stoned to death is not the "preferred" way to go.

To Lamb ---that's what I meant in my post; but you said it better than I did....more succinct.

It's no use being scared of death even thou most of us are, but it is inevitable, something we can't cheat --- we are literately born to die, this reason alone we must live each day to the fullist, we are only here in the blink of an eye.

As we get older, the fear of dying gets less and less. i think as young we fear it because it is unusual for the young to die, as we get older, we come to grip with reality and realize that it is soon coming and we do not fear it.    Not to mention if you had a full life 'living'.. You get tired and it doesn't seem so bad afterall..

    You promise?

Hang in there Chiangmai, you'll get your chance to prove my theory.. :) May be nearer than you think..

It seems to me that young people have no concept of death and dying. So many of them are invincible. It's not until reaching about 40 that the notion "you are mortal" begins to take shape.
    mycatsmom

Vinny, that's right. My elderly mother said she was "tired of living b/c she couldn't get around so well anymore " . She was so ready when she did die. And she looked peaceful.
    Vinny

@BobPKB: yes, this is true, partially because when young we have that ongoing curiosity of all things forbidden and put our young selfs in harm's way without the notion of what danger lies ahead. However, speaking of death to a young person is very fearful and frightens them. Nonetheless, the connection between invincibility vs. mortality has not registered in their young minds. I can certainly remember when i was young and the dangerous activities I was involved in, I didn't even think about getting hurt, let alone dying from it.

When i die doesnt bother me,how i die does

I'll take your comment under advisement, Umbriel. Perhaps you can send us at akaQA a note of some kind to let us know your state of not being alive when you finally kick the bucket. I'd feel a lot better knowing from you that things thereafter are fine.
    Vinny

I don't really know about that, makes sense though, but I believe in the afterlife, I have already picked my afterlife occupation years ago, i am coming back as a staple in Playboy Magazine centerfold. But that was then, new technology is upon us now so I gotta figure out how i can come back as bits of data on a porn site.. I like to keep up with the times. :)

LOL! This is just a priceless answer, Chiangmai. WELL DONE, my friend!
    mycatsmom

dying is supposed to be pleasureable.....if you read all the accounts of people that had died...then were recusitated. Read " Ninety Minutes in Heaven "
    Chiangmai

    @ Bob/PKB: Thanks. I appreciate the comment.
    Chiangmai

@ mycatsmom: Now, that kind of death is acceptable. Dead for 40 minutes, then get resuscitated, then make $3 million writing a book about the "pleasurable" "death" experience. The money plus the ability to discuss about it make it all palatable. :)

Death is not something I'm going to experience repeatedly...just that one time.  I think I'm OK with the idea of being dead, but, like pythonlover says, there are some horrible ways to go. My main fear is that my soul won't  be "ready" .

Yes i do fear dying, some deaths can be horendous, some lingering.Imagine being burnt to death or dying in a horrific car accident, drowning , shot , stabbed , poisoned , the list is endless.Very scarey to think about it.

I'm not scared to die, but i'm scared of  the dy-ing part of it.......like lingering with a long, slow, painful death. And  I'm scared to die alone......b/c I don't have any famiiy. But then, many people that do have family die alone, anyway. I know that from being an LPN in nursing homes.

Boy, isn't that the sad truth!?

Not afraid of dying...when our time is up, it's up. Just hope I don't leave behind someone who needs me...for that reason I would like to stick around.

No I am not afraid of death.

I don`t know yet. I feel like I`m dying now due to my cancer dx.

Cancer can be curable if you eat right and get rid of all negatives in your life. Negative food, people, thoughts. This is being proven more and more. Get a holistic or homeopathic doctor. They can help you. Wishing you the best!

:[ It is my hope you have a treatment plan in place and that it is 100% successful. You know you have friends here. Prayers on their way.

You are still here... so is my Mom. You make me want to cry when you write these things because I am cheering for you.

I think we die a little each day, the only thing that I'm afraid of is the pain of it all. There a saying it not the dieing that hard it the living in this world of our.Anyhow there is no dieing only a transition from here to there where ever that is?

Not at all. I look forward to it actually. We come into this world with only one objective and that is to get back to where we came from.

I do imagine on so many levels that living is far more difficult than dying.  I have seen a lot of things... in the end it is a matter of release.  I suppose that is the hardest part.

I dont want to die, but It is... it just is.....

What can be done about it ? anything ? Organ donation may hold it off entirely for a while but it's an eventual certainty. Unless you know something we don't. If you do let us know ok.

dunc that's a funny question. the only two things i have heard is that people freeze themselves and will get thawed out later when there is a cure of what killed them. the other is that soon people will live to be 500 and look fifty because of medical advances. it funny because i met some people that worked in crionics (i believe its called) when i worked at a radio station. when those guys came off the air from an interview, they all looked liked they had been frozen and thawed out. it was funny to me at the time.

im not scared of death,i just dont want to yet

I believe life goes on on the other side,,and i am 90% sure i have done what the book asks,,however it is the other 10% that bothers me..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

I wish I'll have a sudden rather than slow and painful death
