It's part of their schtick... they also predict how long it will take snow to melt, paint to dry and how many hours to cook a goose... The three latter predictions are so much more useful.

I was told by a member here that if I live long enough, I will see the end of the world in my lifetime. So we have a prophet in our mist.

They usually have something to sell , or are religious idiots. Or both.

It's always a matter of having something to gain. Whether its notoriety of their name circulating throughout the world, money donated for some false religious cause...who knows. I'm afraid if I understand why people do these things I may be closer to their insanity than I care to be. The truth is that the world is over as we know it every time we lay our heads to sleep. Bring on the adventure and make sure you have fun no matter what! 

They're attention seekers and money grabbers.

Oh dear here we go again...Please consult the animals they have a sense about such matters..and they believe dooms day will come for many from the hands of a world leader- but not too soon. Please remeber animals all ahve a different sense of timing than we do as they each live to different ages than humans.  Bart, an eagle that resides near by says it is useless to worry about such things as humans have been "predicting" the end of time for centuries..and they have all been wrong. Eagles have a very good sense of these matters.

No one can possibly know that, so I assume it would be called "attention seeking behavior".  I would also put psychics into the same category as they also predict things by their seemingly "magical powers"....they are just a little calmer about it.

Alot of prophets have made that prophecy, even Jesus said the world would end in his time.

Anyone that does claim to know the end of the world is indeed a lose, nobody knows but god the father himself..
