OKRA??! I just made a big batch of okra and tomato and corn, with garlic, oregano, hot sauce and raisin stew to take for lunch this week at work. Is delicious. Makes me look extra forward to lunch each day. Ducky, it is the taste or the slimy texture you don't like? It seems so benign to me....

I think it's the slimy texture but I could hardly get past that, to even remember the taste! I only tried it once, and "it left a bad taste in my mouth" (pun intended). haha And another thing..raisin stew??

I had a drink in Fiji, I think its called calva (something like that anyway) it was really horrible and we had to drink it so as not to offend.My whole mouth just withered up.

Ear wax, pretty gross and very close to the taste of tree pitch. Although I do have to say that Bucklies is also a horrible taste.

I couldn't pinpoint any one thing,...there have been so many. Ohh, wait, I remember now, living in St. Petersburg, Florida about 25 yrs ago, my best friend, who was from upstate New York, had some ground deer meat sent to her and hubby from there by a relative, and never having had a deer meat burger before they very proudly made me a huge grilled burger of it and served it up to me on a bun, like a hamburger, and I was excited to try this new food and upon chewing the very first bite I thought I was going to be sick!! It was horrible!! Gamey, greasy, thick and hard to swallow, totally nasty. Took one more bite just to be polite, but that's ALL I could do!! Haven't eaten deer meat since......

Usually you have to mix a fatty meat with deer. Deer is so very much without fat it will burn in the skillet without it. Also, if gamey it may not have been field dressed timely and appropriately. Deer burger is usually really tasty when made properly. Son in law makes 100# or so every season.

Had turtle soup at catholic grade school in 1950. Smelled like day old sun rippened fish and tasted just as bad. 40 years later tried it again, brought back the ugly memory and couldn't swallow it.
