Hm...maybe because it utilizes a miniscule DC current?! That would be my guess, in light of the fact that I'm not an electronics expert.

Especially if there is a transformer somewhere in the power supply side of things, or it operates on batteries. I believe those two factors mentioned, pretty assure that it operates on a polarized current, i.e.; a current that only flows it one direction versus an AC current which changes polarity 60 times a second.
