Losing your virginity at a particular age isn't practical. Drinking, voting, and driving have legal ages probably to prevent discrimination lawsuits, but there are millions who shouldn't have one or more of those privileges.
If you think of losing your virginity as a rite of passage into man/woman-hood, I'd put it right there at 18 (USA now-you-are-an-adult age). The problem for me is that I think the act that takes one's virginity should be an act of love, not passage.
Possibly some day the concept of "saving yourself for your wedding night" will become acceptable again. That would be a good way to eliminate alot of STDs, abortions, and all the problems of social welfare systems when there are unwed baby mamas sauntering the streets in their mid-chest tank tops and below-the-waist- stretch shorts thinking they have accomplished something of which to be proud (knocked up and po'- ho).
