Adopting from an impoverished or politically incorrect country (according to your standards) brings attention to the plight of the children in that country. It is very difficult to adopt a child almost anywhere, but less so in countries outside of the USA.
Years ago, there was a segment on 20/20 about adopting children in Romania. Married at the time, with three young sons, my husband and I became interested in adopting a child from Romania. I investigated further, but it wasn't available to us due to finances.
I have friends who adopted a son from Russia and a daughter from China. They received no publicity whatsoever.
It's hard to believe any celebrity does much of anything for anyone other than himself, but like matheneyg says, "only the adoptive parent knows for sure".

Personaly I think they are and I also feel the children will not be rared by the adopter but by a carer employed by the adopter.
This aside the child may get a better upbrining as far a health is concerned but there are plenty of "local" children who need help.
"Charity begins at home" but doesn`t sell gossip magazines to people who do not have a life of their own so read all the rot in said magazines.

As long as the kids are getting a good home with loving parents and an education, who cares why the celebs do it? How many children have Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie adopted (3 is it?)? These kids have a great home and we know Brad and Angelina love them, they take them everywhere and always on fun adventures.
