Your debt may have been referred to a collection agency. The agency will send you notices of the balance due and assess penalties and interest and all that other stuff. I think they CAN get a lien against you. Check with a legal aid service, or read all that fine print on your credit card agreement that you filed with other important documents when the card first arrived (Yeah, I didn't do that, either).

To the best of my knowledge, only the IRS and other government taxing agency's can garner bank accounts and then only to the person or persons liable for the tax, not joint accounts
As to Credit card companies, they can not garner bank accounts but they can lien a property, If they get judgment in court. That means it the property is ever sold, they get their money, but liens must by re-attached after a certain number of years or they go away.
Husband and wife should never but things like credit cards or vehicles etc. in both names, only in their own name, to avoid joint liability for single losses
If i were you, I would contact an attorney for a definitive answer however
