If an orange is orange, why isn't a lime called a green or a lemon called a yellow?

A lime is refered to by it's official colour which is Lime Green.  Green is the most complex of all colours as there are more shades of green than any other colour on earth.  Lemon Yellow...for lemons... again taking it's cue from the Lime thing...

Oranges decided a very long time ago that they just wanted to keep things simple.
