Items accepted in the green wheeled bin

Garden waste including:
- grass/hedge cuttings, leaves, twigs
- small branches (cut up) and real Christmas trees (cut up)
- flowers/dead headings, potted plants (without the pots), woody prunings, weeds
- straw/hay (including small animal bedding - anything organic that rots easily)
Food Waste including:
- food scraps and peelings/bones (both raw & cooked)
- meat, fish, dairy and bread
- fruit and vegetables
- tea bags and coffee grounds
- egg shells NOTE: These items can be wrapped in newspaper to avoid any unnecessary spillages
Simple, natural cardboard including:
- brown corrugated cardboard (no sellotape, parcel tape or adhesives)
- toilet roll/kitchen roll tubes
- cereal packets
- shredded paper
- cardboard egg boxes (with non-compostable labels removed)
- tissues, paper towels and envelopes (without windows)
Paper:
Newspapers
Magazines
Yellow Pages
Writing paper
Paperback books
Junk mail
Flyers/leaflets
Catalogues
Envelopes
White phone books
Shredded paper (please wrap in newspaper to stop paper blowing around)
Please ensure only the above items are placed into your green wheeled bin for recycling. Any items not in this list can result in contamination and a green waste load being rejected. Those items not accepted in the Green Waste Plus scheme are shown in the table below:
