What an awful way to live. What must that do to the insides of the "hater"?

most of them stay together for the money, or for the children's sake. And this may come as a shock to you, but some people take the marriage vows seriously . They know they have promised to God and many witnesses that they are going to stay together for better or for worse.

I haven't had to deal with that situation. I like her more today then when we were kids.

I've asked my parents why they do that, and either they don't know themselves or they don't want to think about it. Maybe negative attention is still more bearable for them than no attention at all.

I'm guessing that not too many will touch this question!   Yikes!

It is a good question with dozens of different reasons I'm sure but it's pretty much a one on one discussion, I think.

For the sake of the dog. We have a plaque on oiur outside wall "We are staying together for the sake of the dog" True not joking.

Time can change everything so if you were happy once maybe in time you can be happy again.

Money  (not enough or not wanting to split it)
The kids
The dog
Took vows seriously
Hope relationship will improve
Negative attention better than none
Rather be married and lonely than single and alone
Some people are too proud to admit they've made a mistake.

I stayed and stayed because I was afraid.  

Fortunately I have found happiness with a truly wonderful man.

Some women just don't know any better,some have no one to turn to,wouldn't know how to pay a bill or manage money.They are made to feel worthless and useless ,some have been threatened by thier husbands that they will be tracked down and killed if they were ever to leave.I think the fear factor and the unknown has a lot to do with staying in a unhappy marriage.
