I got to see THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA  and I could go to my grave hearing it over and over......

I really love that one as well. I saw it at the Citadel Theater in Edmonton. It was very good.

Phantom of the Opera. Couldn't get the songs out of my head for a long time after seeing it!

    I know! Right!?!!

You hit the nail on the head. A great musical. I also like the older ones like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

I can't stand musicals. I have a great appreciation for music and the theatre but the two combined is like mixing wine with milk. A disaster !

I know that wasn't your question but I couldn't resist.

It's all good. A very good friend of mine has the same opinion. He has a lot of opinions. I must say that I do put wine into my Alfredo sauce right at the very end... spectacular!

Alfredo al vino ? No way ! No wonder you like musicals ;-)

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF;   CABARET;    CAMELOT;     GREASE!

Don't you just love musicals?... what a hoot!

Oh yes. All the ones listed here that I've seen are great. One night I told my sons I was choosing what was on the screen. I chose my Cabaret DVD and popped it in. Two went off to play and the third (eldest) watched it with me. When it was over, he said he liked the movie, but he REALLY liked the music. At his next piano lesson, he asked the teacher for Cabaret music. I used to sing "Cabaret" while driving the tractor in the vineyards. I sound great with tractor noise in the foreground.

    That's it... A tractor! :)

Oh yes, much more effective than the shower. :D

    FISH-O

Good one. I am a singing fool after watching that one!

It's a toss -up between West Side Story and The Sound of Music.

    FISH-O

    Both brilliant!

    I hate them.

    Ha Ha Ha!
The hills are alive with the sound of music.....la la la la.....

There are so many wonderful musicals, both on stage and on film that have captured the hearts of millions all over the globe. I would never say ‘this one is better than that one’ but I do have a favourite and mine is My Fair Lady.

On a sad note, I have to report the passing away of Marni Nixon. She is best known for dubbing the singing voices of the leading actresses in films, including The King and I, West Side Story and My Fair Lady. She died on 24. July 2016 aged 86.

    Great singer, sad loss...........

Yes, I read this. Sad day, glorious life.

    Good one!

I have not seen that one. It is now on my bucket list.

Iconic. Brilliant and completely one of my favourites. Thanks, I have just now replaced The Wiz songs. ... I am so relieved :) ... Seriously, The Wiz has been stuck in my head for six weeks since my little man played a little lion in the musical on stage. It has been torturous. He continues to hum the tunes and I really want to 'Move on Down' the darned road already. .............. Oh shoot it's back! :D
(I know it should be, "Ease on down" but, that 'ease' thing left the building two weeks ago)
