Chipmunks are omnivorous which means that they eat both plants and animals. The primary diet of chipmunks is grains, bird eggs, nuts (including peanuts!), worms, fungi and insects. Chipmunks are very aggressive in hunting bird eggs and hide where they cannot be seen until the mother bird leaves her eggs. Chipmunks are fairly docile and will eat out of human hands.

Yeah, and Chipmunks also eat blueberries. I have some high-bush blueberries, they are covered with bird mesh, 1/2 in. squares which are fastened to a cage created with posts and anchored down to ground with boards. They enter it and climb the bushes and self-harvest the berries. The little guys are going to be introduced to rat bait! This is year no. 2 that they have raided me.
