    What causes hammer toes?

    Hammer toes is cause by improper footwear. Shoes that is too tight in the toe area, or very high heels can push the toes forward, leaving little room for the toes to lay flat. An injury to the toes, arthritis, or a stroke can also cause hammer toes.
