After 2 yeas of divorce litigation my attorney has filed to be withdrawn from my case. The reason being, I am out of money.

I have lost my job, lost my home and car  and have not received any support for my children.  I do not know if I can represent myself in court or would the judge assign a legal aide attorney to complete this divorce.  I live in the State of New Jersey so if anyone has any input, please respond.  Thanks

He cant just quit. Filing  means he is asking the judge for permission to quit. You can petition the judge to consider the hardship the removal of council would cause. If after two years he has not secured any money for you I would be questioning his competence . You can play hard ball and go make a complaint with the judicial misconduct board regarding his competence.Fact is no one can be forced to work for free unless you are a prisoner . Rule is no money no work . Sad but true.!

no one can be forced but what happened to moral obligations? i think the professions need to examine their own conduct.
